Shimnu Jindal, you might are not so familiar with this name but this lady is an inspiration to all the women who thinks that they are born to be a housewife. She is the woman who openly challenged her paralytic body by making her mind as strong as a rock, the person who is not bounded by her wheelchair and continuously shuffling around her office by managing all kinds of multi tasking jobs single handily and yes she is the MD of the famous OP Jindal Group.

The woman who poses an extraordinary power of handling such a big group of company being the MD of Jindal Saw Limited Shimnu jindal came out of a typical conservative Marwari family and broke all those so called barrier of a conservative family. She is the first lady and perhaps the only lady who worked in so called men’s sector like steel, gas and oil sector of India confined in a wheelchair she works day and night for the welfare of her company and its staffs.

Her life and background:

Shimnu Jindal belongs to a wealthy family, educated in the prestigious Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ school in Jaipur. It was one day while she was returning back from school her car met with an accident which took away the movement of her lower body part and she was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life, but she never thought of herself as an inferior human being and survived with a fatal brain haemorrhage and spinal injury and made her paralytic for the rest of her life and she became confined in a wheelchair. She was too young to face such a terrible accident which took away all the fun and happy days of her childhood and she lost control over the lower portion of her body in just eleven years of age, initial days were very painful for her as she went through a lot of sleepless night due to the physical as well as her mental pain. All her dreams were shattered within a moment she became devastated when she came to know that she will no longer be able to dance as she was a lovely kathak dancer and was recognized by Bharatiya Kala Kendra when she was only nine years old.

According to her all the credits behind her success is the continuous support and encouragement of her parents who all the while gave her the mental support which helped her to overcome the terrible disability of her life and she proved herself a fighter to cope up with her misbalanced physic especially her mother Arti boosted her confidence level and made her attend a normal school with other normal children and never let Shimnu feel that she is inferior to her fellow classmates and friends. Her family never showed her any kind of sympathy and treated her equally with her other two sisters she goes to school and tuitions like her other friends by carrying her own bag and took admission in regular co-ed college for her higher studies.

According to Shimnu she was brought up just like the other kids and she had to do all her work by herself and every possible treatments were performed on her but her condition was not improved finally her parents gave her a machine which made her stand for few hours. Shimnu is very positive and never felt bad in talking about the accident and the painful stages experienced by her which made her an inspiration for every special people out there. Like her parents Shinu’s husband also never made any kind of sympathetic approach towards her and works as a continuous mental support in her life. Shinu and her husband Indresh Batra met at a friend’s party and got really well and decided to get married and now they are proud parents of two kids aged six and three respectively. Indresh never bothered about her condition and they act like completely normal couple and she herself says that her husband never gave her any kind of special care as he never found it an issue and she proudly says “What makes an individual special is his / her job  empathy and not his / her state. She is an amazing human being who never lost the self confidence inside her mind and was always ready to accept all kinds of challenges which came in her way and came out thoroughly successful in every project she took up. Shinu is now the successful MD of Jindal Metals and Alloys Limited since 2001 and is capable of taking her company to reach the pillar of success within a very short period of time, she joined the family business as a trainee after achieving her MBA degree from a recognized university.

She runs an organization by herself called ‘Svayam’ an programme of Shimnu Jindal charitable trust which works for the betterment and conservation of our heritage monuments such as the Jalianwala Bagh and Qutub Minar by making construction for public convenience like shelter and bus queue. Shimnu Jindal charitable trust is also working for the upliftment of the backward class and needy people by constructing several educational institutions which will help those needy children to receive free education necessary to build their future. The foundation is also trying to enhance the condition of the people with reduced mobility which will help them to reach their desired destination without any kind of difficulties. Their next project is to work for the tourism department of India which will again help the people with abridged mobility to be able to enjoy the true beauty of our country with a reasonable cost.
