Anu Shridharan the lady who thought of serving the people of our society since she was very young and she did that by providing the most essential thing needed for every human being that is water. Being a civil as well as environmental engineer, Anu is always zealous about giving more consistent government services to the citizens of India. She thought of founding an organization by which she will be able to provide purest form of water to the people specially to the area where the people suffers from acute water crisis her foundation “Next Drop” the main aim of this organization is to produce consistent water supply to most of the urban India this organization was founded to save people from the irregular water supply provided by our government.
In most of the places of India people gets water only for a particular period of time per day and they have stand in a long queue to fill a bucket of water, Anu wanted to save people from this kind of problem faced by them regularly. The work of Next drop is to send water in those time taps where water comes for a fixed period of time Next drop sends water to the taps 60minutes after sending text on your number.
Her life and background
Anu Sridharan belongs to a very educated background she did her Masters from the University of California getting a bachelor’s degree from Berkeley University as well. During her staying there she also did many kinds of research in pipe networking system and also many kind of studies related with making water pure and safe free from arsenic and other kinds of bacteria and impurities. Before her organization despite researching about different kinds of water purification technologies she also worked as a director of a scheme which works for the safe water and proper sanitation to the rural people of Mumbai and she was one of the most successful in making her project work and she also worked for giving training and recruiting members who are interested in this project. For her hard work and determination Anu has been selected as one of the most influential Entrepreneurs under 30.
Water problem is one of the biggest problems faced by the people of India since ancient time. Though 73% of our world is covered by water bodies still there is never ending water problem faced by the people of India as well as the world. Every day morning people of India open their tap just to check whether it is running dry or not. Next Drop is an organization founded by a young girl of 20 which works to provide water to the different taps of India it works with an engineers in Bangalore to develop water service to more than 75000 people in Bangalore and its nearby cities Hubli to Dharwad to ensure providing safe water in proper time with trustworthy information about their water supply. Their mode of working is also very innovative and technical as they work through messaging service to carry on their service they send sms to the users the when they will receive their water supply, when there is a problem in pipe which may could affect them or any kinds of water related information are sent to the users every single time.
Her work and organization
The work of Next drop organization is to provide proper information to people regarding water supply, what they do is to ask the citizens what information they had received from government and then they verify whether they are receiving the supply of water within time or not and by chance if it is delayed then what is the reason behind that if sometimes a huge number of people are unable to receive water at a particular time then they make sure that government has some problem in providing water. They used to give proper feedback to the people if any kind of crisis takes place and also try to gather information from different people in times of water problem and tries to find solution for that problem and for this reason people didn’t have to wait for a long time to dissolve their problem by informing it to the government sector by working in this way the people didn’t have to wait for more time to solve their problem. The organization is not only working for the standard class people but also the poor people are giving a lot of feedback regarding water problems faced by them in their locality by visiting and the utility company are very fascinated for getting feedback from the lower people of the society and people who belongs to the lower standard are working in the organization are also doing a tough job in keeping up the scheduled problems and are also attending the meetings and by knowing the problem they are getting ready to work on them.
The government are also working with them and the most interesting thing is the utility company itself is willing to work on more and more problems facing by the citizens and are getting delighted to receive the feedback from the people.
